Welcome

When You Walk Through Our Doors

Our front-desk team will greet you, help you complete any forms you didn't fill out online, and answer any questions before you meet your doctor. Most paperwork takes about 5 minutes.

If you're an ICBC or WorkSafeBC patient, we'll confirm your claim details here too — we handle all the billing communication so you don't have to.

Your First Visit

What to Expect Step by Step

First visit timing varies by practitioner. Here's exactly what will happen from the moment you walk through the door.

1

Book Your Appointment

Call us at (250) 492-7027 or book online through JaneApp. Our receptionist will ask some basic questions about your health concerns, help you choose the right doctor, and find a time that works for you — including Saturdays.

2

Arrive & Check In

When you arrive at our Penticton office at 272 Westminster Ave W, you'll receive a warm welcome from our front desk team. We'll provide you with intake paperwork to complete before your consultation begins. Free street parking is available right outside the building.

Please arrive 15–20 minutes early to complete paperwork
3

One-on-One Consultation

Your chiropractor — Dr. Berry, Dr. Kornelsen, or Dr. Maia — will bring you into the exam room and take the time to listen to your concerns. You'll discuss what brought you in, your health history, your goals for care, and any previous treatments you've tried. We never rush this conversation.

4

Thorough Examination

A complete chiropractic examination to determine the current issues and their root cause. This includes postural analysis, range of motion testing, orthopedic and neurological assessments, and any additional diagnostic work your doctor feels is necessary. If you've brought X-rays or MRI results, your doctor will review them during this phase.

5

Findings & Treatment Plan

Your doctor will explain what they found, how it's affecting you, and what they recommend to help. We believe healthcare should be a partnership — you'll always understand your options and your care plan before we move forward. After ensuring you're comfortable and ready, you'll sign consent forms.

6

Your First Adjustment

Most patients receive their first chiropractic adjustment on the same visit. Every treatment plan is unique to you — we never repeat the same routine without first reassessing what's changed. Before you leave, we'll schedule a follow-up appointment to check your progress.

First visit timing varies by practitioner — your chiropractor will let you know what to expect when you book.

What should I expect at my first chiropractic visit?
Your first visit timing varies by practitioner. Most patients receive their first adjustment on the same visit. We'll also schedule a follow-up appointment before you leave.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your BC Services Card (CareCard), government-issued photo ID, any extended health insurance information, ICBC or WorkSafeBC claim numbers if applicable, any X-rays or MRI reports, records from previous care providers, and a list of current medications. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows for movement.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in BC?
No. In British Columbia, you don't need a referral from a doctor to see a chiropractor. This applies to all visits including ICBC and WorkSafeBC claims. Just book directly online or call our office.
Does ICBC cover chiropractic care?
Yes. If you've been in a motor vehicle accident in BC, ICBC covers up to 25 pre-approved chiropractic visits within 12 weeks of your accident. No doctor's referral is needed. We handle all the paperwork and offer direct billing to ICBC so you pay nothing out of pocket.
Does WorkSafeBC cover chiropractic treatment?
Yes. WorkSafeBC covers up to 11 chiropractic sessions within 8 weeks for work-related injuries (initial visit within 60 days of injury). No referral required. Initial visits are covered at $150, and treatment plans of 3+ visits at $800. We file all claims on your behalf.
Do you accept extended health insurance?
Yes. We offer direct billing to most major extended health providers through our JaneApp system, including Greenshield. Please check with us to confirm your specific plan is eligible for direct billing.
Can I choose which doctor I see?
Absolutely. We are currently accepting new patients. You can request a specific doctor when booking online through JaneApp or when calling our office. If you're unsure, our receptionist will help match you with the best fit for your needs.
Do you offer Saturday or evening appointments?
Yes. We're open Saturdays from 7:45 AM to 1:00 PM, and offer evening hours on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 6:00 PM. We're one of the few Penticton chiropractic practices with weekend availability.
