Dr. Maia Pidperyhora
From Rehabilitation to Chiropractic
Growing up in the Okanagan, Dr. Maia was active in summer sports like wakeboarding and soccer. A chiropractor in her hometown helped her recover from injuries and improve her overall function — not through a one-size-fits-all approach, but through tailored exercises and individualized care. That experience planted the seed.
After high school, she initially pursued a career in rehabilitation, working as a Rehab Assistant in Pediatrics and with patients recovering from total hip and knee replacements. That hands-on clinical experience deepened her understanding of how the body recovers from injury and reinforced her belief in active, patient-centered care.
From there, she moved to Toronto to pursue her Doctor of Chiropractic at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC) — one of Canada's most respected chiropractic programs. Her rehabilitation background became a defining strength, giving her a unique clinical perspective that sets her apart.
Clinical Approach & Specialties
Dr. Maia uses her rehabilitation background to inform every aspect of her chiropractic practice. She doesn't just adjust — she builds comprehensive treatment plans that include active care, soft tissue therapy, and joint manipulation tailored to each patient's specific condition and goals.
Sports Injuries
From weekend warriors on the Kettle Valley Trail to competitive athletes at Skaha Bluffs — sprains, strains, overuse injuries, and prevention plans.
Headaches & Cervicogenic Pain
Addressing the cervical spine and surrounding soft tissues to reduce tension headache, cervicogenic headache, and migraine frequency.
TMJ & Jaw Disorders
The only OCC practitioner treating TMJ — jaw clicking, grinding, and tension headaches from temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
Active Care & Rehab
Targeted exercises and active care protocols that complement in-office treatment — because what patients do between visits matters.
Individualized Care Built Around Your Life
Dr. Maia believes in providing care that is based on each patient's own lifestyle and goals — not a generic template. Whether you're a desk worker dealing with chronic neck tension, a retiree working to maintain mobility, or a young athlete recovering from a sports injury, her treatment plan is built specifically for you.
"I want to provide you with the tools and education to help you understand and manage your own condition — to improve your quality of life and continue doing the things you love to do."
Alongside Dr. Condren Berry and Dr. Tamara Kornelsen, Dr. Maia brings a fresh perspective and a rehabilitation-focused approach that complements OCC's three decades of trusted care. Her focus on patient education means you'll always leave with a clear understanding of your condition and a plan you can follow at home.
Life in the Okanagan
When she's not treating patients, Dr. Maia spends quality time with family, friends, and her two cats. She enjoys playing guitar, reading, playing video games and board games, and weight-lifting at the gym. Born and raised in the valley, she brings the same active, engaged approach to her personal life as she does to her clinical work.
Conditions Dr. Maia Treats
With her combined rehabilitation and chiropractic expertise, Dr. Maia treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.
