Dr. Tamara Kornelsen
Education & Training
Dr. Tamara Kornelsen earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Lethbridge before pursuing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. Her academic foundation gave her a thorough understanding of the sciences underpinning musculoskeletal health and human physiology.
Following her chiropractic education, Dr. Kornelsen pursued advanced certification in Active Release Technique (ART) — a specialized soft tissue treatment system designed to address problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. She also trained in Applied Kinesiology, which uses muscle testing to identify functional imbalances throughout the body.
These combined credentials give Dr. Kornelsen a uniquely comprehensive diagnostic and treatment toolkit that goes well beyond traditional spinal adjustment alone.
A Vitalistic Philosophy of Care
At the heart of Dr. Kornelsen's practice is a vitalistic philosophy — the understanding that the body possesses an innate capacity for self-healing when the nervous system is functioning without interference. Her approach centers on identifying and correcting subluxations to restore proper spinal alignment and nervous system communication.
Family wellness is central to everything Dr. Kornelsen does. She frequently treats entire families — from infants and children through parents and grandparents — believing that chiropractic care benefits every stage of life. She uses Applied Kinesiology and Active Release Technique alongside traditional chiropractic adjustment to deliver a well-rounded, patient-centered approach.
"Families who get adjusted together stay healthier together."
Working alongside Dr. Condren Berry, who has led OCC for over 35 years, and Dr. Maia Pidperyhora, who brings a rehabilitation-focused perspective, Dr. Kornelsen's family wellness philosophy is an essential part of the team's ability to serve patients across the full spectrum of chiropractic care.
Clinical Approach
Dr. Kornelsen combines Active Release Technique with Applied Kinesiology for a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment approach. ART allows her to precisely identify and treat soft tissue adhesions, scar tissue, and overused muscles, while Applied Kinesiology provides insight into the body's functional imbalances through muscle testing.
